About the Owner, Adam Gordinier
Hailing from Los Angeles, Adam Gordinier is a 2nd degree black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu. With over 20 years of experience, he received his black belt from world-class martial artist Renato Magno and his brown belt from renowned practitioner Eddie Bravo. Studying under such acclaimed yet stylistically different masters of the sport has helped him develop a highly technical and easily accessible brand of jiu-jitsu, combining modern techniques and positions with a solid foundation in the fundamentals and a strong emphasis on wrestling. An active and experienced competitor, Adam teaches both classes and private lessons in jiu-jitsu and self-defense.
Along with teaching prospective students and athletes, Adam also works with actors and stunt-performers, including having helped choreograph a jiu-jitsu fight scene with the stunt coordinator for Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Additionally, one of his proudest accomplishments is helping develop a program with Sea Change Recovery, where he spent three years using jiu-jitsu as a tool for recovering addicts in treatment.
Combining his professional career in Los Angeles and his smaller town upbringing, Adam has been able to develop a sophisticated but humble approach to teaching his love for the sport. He is elated to bring his knowledge of jiu-jitsu to the greater Atlanta community and is grateful to call Trilith the new home for AG Jiu-Jitsu Academy.
About Jiu-Jitsu and AG Jiu-Jitsu Academy
Jiu-jitsu is rooted in self defense, but also provides an effective form of exercise and unique skillset. It serves as a stress reliever, builds confidence, and teaches people how to problem solve under pressure while being a practical way to defend oneself inside or outside the gym. It is not uncommon for practitioners to find that they apply the skills developed in jiu-jitsu to all aspects of their lives.
At AG Jiu-Jitsu Academy, we provide a holistic approach to health and fitness, focusing not only on physical health, but also on mental and emotional well-being. It is not just a sport; it serves as a community. Coach Adam strives to provide a warm and welcoming environment in the academy, creating a safe space for people to learn martial arts.
